PERSONAL NEWS
- August 24, 2006. OopsI've been forgetting to update this page.
Here's the latest news:
- I made a trip to Anchorage, Alaska in late May and early June 2006. I'll post
pictures here as soon as I get some time.
- I stopped by Casper, Wyoming on my way back from Alaska to run in my fourth
marathon, the Casper Marathon.
- I went to my first national Esperanto meeting in New York City in late July.
I'll post pictures here as soon as I get some time.
- The following week I went to Florence, Italy for a week for my first international
Esperanto meeting. I have some picture from there tooI'll put them up
on this Web site when I get some time.
- On August 19, I ran in the
Parkersburg News and Sentinel Half Marathon
in Parkersburg, West Virginia.
- February 20, 2006. I've begun working as a volunteer to help restore
the Rosa Bonheur Memorial Park, a pet cemetery in Elkridge, Maryland. Bonheur is
one of the world's first pet cemeteries, and where my dog Scruffy is laid to rest.
The cemetery has apparently been abandoned by its owners and allowed to fall into decay,
but a group of volunteers from the community has begun restoring the cemetery.
Further details may be found on the Bonheur Page.
- December 4, 2005. I completed my third marathon - the
Tucson Marathon
in Tucson, Arizona - with a time of 4:34:00.
- June 18, 2005. I completed my second marathon - the
Mayor's Midnight Sun Marathon
in Anchorage, Alaska - with a time of 4:26:33. I spent a
week in Alaska to do some sightseeing - pictures are available
here.
- October 3, 2004. I completed my first marathon - the
Twin Cities Marathon
in Minneapolis - with a chip time of 4:47:07. (Slow, but hopefully
at least respectable for a beginner.) I was in a fair amount of pain
by the time I got to the finish line, but crossed it standing up!
