MOON ROCKS - PANEL VII
Lunar Rock 15495. At about 3.8 billion years the lunar interior melted partially and lava flowed to the surface, forming the basalts that now fill the maria. These lavas contained gases that bubbled out as they cooled. Crystals sometimes formed in the cavities.
